AgilePod Sapphire Optical Window Modification
Lead design and manufacturing engineer for an IR&D project with the objective of modifying existing access panels on the AgilePod to add optical windows. The optical window will allow for recording of on-aircraft events as well as filmography. The sapphire window has excellent optical properties with the added benefit of being very scratch resistant.
Over the course of 5 months, I researched, designed, and manufactured two prototypes. The completed work products include work instructions, drawing package, CAD models, CONOPS, and reporting on what the next step of the project would be.
Designed, prototyped, and integrated modified AgilePod access panel to add an optical window for flight test recording and filmography. Window is made of sapphire.
